The opening of the Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero will feature on the ONCE coupon for Saturday, November 11. Five and a half million coupons will promote this new art space on the very day it opens its doors to the public.
José Manuel Pichel Jallas, ONCE Delegate in the Valencian Community, and Alejandra Silvestre, Director of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, presented the coupon. “It is a source of pride that ONCE wanted to dedicate a coupon to the Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero. We are very excited and, moreover, I would like to thank José Manuel and his team for the effort they have made so that this coupon dedicated to us is the one for the November 11 draw, the very day the center opens its doors,” explained Alejandra Silvestre.
The Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero is located in the former Valeriola Palace and reflects the history of Valencia, from the Roman period to the Visigothic, Islamic, and Christian eras. It was created to share with society the most relevant contemporary art on the international scene and, in addition, to help make the Valencian Community a leading cultural and artistic destination.
This cultural space will bring together the private collection of patron Hortensia Herrero, which includes works by artists such as Andreas Gursky, Anselm Kiefer, Georg Baselitz, Anish Kapoor, and Mat Collishaw, among others.
About the CAHH and the Hortensia Herrero Foundation
The Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero consists of two four-storey buildings, housing a total of 17 exhibition spaces across more than 3,500 square meters. Restoring the former Valeriola Palace required more than five years of work to prepare it to house this art center.
The Hortensia Herrero Foundation was created in 2012 with the aim of promoting interest, knowledge, and sensitivity toward art and culture through projects developed in the Valencian Community by artists from around the world.
Its president is Hortensia Herrero, the foundation’s sole patron. Through the foundation, she channels her vocation for patronage under the philosophy of sharing with society what she has received from it. Its work focuses on three areas: restoration, supporting initiatives that help recover the artistic heritage of the Valencian Community; dance, promoting its training and appreciation; and contemporary art, helping to promote culture nationally and internationally.
